I am an ex-J-1 and have served 4 of the 5 year on NIW pending AOS. Does any one know how long it is taking to get GC after finishing 5 years and submitting evidence of it.

Hi I am also in same boat finished 4out of 5 years as per my lawyer it should be approved within few months after showing the evidence that one has finished 5 years and one can relocate to another area or do fellowship or what ever once 5 years are served in MUA

kidsdoc,

Your name suggests that you are a pediatrician. I am a pediatrician working in Georgia.

Do you know anyone who got GC through this route yet? My lawyer says that she has submitted evidence of completion 5 years of service for her clients in december, 2002 but none of them have recieved any response or fingerprinting scheduled yet.
She thinks that BCIS is putting our files back of the line after recieving evidence of completion of service and it may take 2 years or more from there on.

I have recently got another I 140 (LC based) and she is suggesting to go for CP while keeping AOS pending on NIW based 1-140. Are you or anyone you know are following this course?

Thank you for your reply. If you wish you could email me at nchainani@pol.net

Did you have NIW AOS petition pending at the time of CP interview? Any specific questions related to J-1 or being physician came up in your interview? If you do not mind please give your phone/or email. I may have more questions as my CP process progresses.

Thank you for your response.

I had no pending NIW (actually, it was denied after stricter rules were implemented by INS). Interview was very short and straightforward. Routine questions were asked: who is your employer, how long have you been working, what's your last visa status.
