Finally, after a long wait of 5 some years, my spouse's I-485 (India) got approved yesterday.
Approx. Timeline:
Applied NIW I-140 Feb 2003
I-140 approved April 2003 (Yes, in 8 weeks)
Applied I-485 April 2003
Transferred to Local office Baltimore Nov 2004
Interviewed at Baltimore May 2005, not approved due to lack of secondary proof of birth, in spite of having affidavits and non-availability certificate.
Sent secondary proof of birth July 2005, and received standard letter saying visa numbers unavailable for India
Moved to St. Louis and provided Change of address June 2006
Contacted Congressman Jan 2007
PD became Current around Nov/Dec(?) 2007 and was asked for finger print and employment letter.
More retrogression!
PD became current in the March 08 bulletin, contacted Congressman last week.
Approval letter from local St. Louis office arrived 04-03-08. Looked like an April fool gag because it was a letter written on plain white paper with St. Louis local office letter head and signed by the chief field officer (?). Anyway they have asked to come and get temp. stamp on passport if necessary and the letter says Card will arive within one year! Copy was sent to the lawyer too which makes the letter look more authentic!
As I was looking for information like this on this website during our wait and always found it thanks to all of you who take the time. I am hoping this will be helpful to others who are waiting. Hope this is the beginning for the whole wheel to turn more quickly from now on for all of you and that dates remain reasonable current!
