NIW I-140 jumped to Jul 29, 2004 in Vermont SC

NIW processing time was Oct 29, 2003 two months ago (in March).

Now it is July 29, 2004. If they keep this progress, all NIW cases will be cleaned up in 2-3 months!

It keeps going back and forth...

The good thing though is that one can make an enquiry if the "current" processing date is at least one month after the notice date. That may push things a little bit -- may be the file will be "opened" .

these dates really dont mean much,

Many people who applied this year got NIWs approved.
I applied in December 04 and got it approved from VSC in February 05. Its a mystery to me how they handle cases.

so its time to keep your fingers crossed already!
