I am going to file NIW petition by myself. I have a question about the NIW evidence.

I was told NIW has nothing to do with current employment. In my case I am doing research work in a world famous research group. The original discoveries of this group are the milestones of the current medical research. Is that helpful to write down some words to introduce this group in my petition letter or recommendation letter? Or I just should focus on my research and attest the important to the American interest?

Not true. People get their NIW approved on the basis of current employment. So it depends. The strategy has to be tailor-made for each unique situation.

You have to do both. The requirements for NIW have morphed into having to prove national interest *and* extraordinary ability. Many experts consider NIW to be difficult than EB1-EA.

NYSDOT case has morphed NIW into the pie in the sky (well, pretty close), and in general ruled out approvals based entirely on the membership in a prestigious organization. This being said, I think when you have a significant contribution to a highly recognized organization, it helps to promote your organization in NIW application.

I have seen cases on this board getting approved for their work for US govt. agencies. So in those situations, trumpheting current employment can be very beneficial.
