I am a regular visitor of this forum. Last night got the email for I-140 approval, so I thought I will share it with you all.... and here is my story.
Phd from top institute in India in 2001. Post-doc at good US university for 3 years and last 1 &1/2 yr post-doc associate at good institute... all in the area of cancer research.....
Filed I-140/I-485 concurrent: July 2005 (at that time submitted 9 letters; 5 boss/former boss/collaborators and 4 independent); 9 papers, 3 first author, 4 2nd author in good international journals; 8 international conference papers; few citations (around 20; independent citations >10); memberships etc....
RFE received (Dec 2005): 7 page RFE basically asking for more INDEPENDENTletters and letters from NATIONAL organisations like NIH/FDA/CDC etc to prove that my work is really in NATIONAL interest.
RFE response (RD March 8, 2006); submitted 5 new letters; 3 independent; 1 from NIH, 2 from other big univ; 1 from current boss; 1 collaborator... really strong letters emphasining the word NATIONAL interst at several places in letters; also submitted 2 new papers (1 first author) and new conference papers alongwith 4 new independent citations....
LUD on 3/14/06 night: message change to RFE received
LUD 3/15/06 morning: no message change
LUD 3/16/06 morning: no message change
3/16/06 around 10.30 pm received the email about approval: online message also changed
so thats my I-140 story... I-485 is pending and I know its a long way to go....
