NIW and EB1-EA qualifications

Dear friends,

I've seen your guys posting exceptionally valuable input in this forum. Could you evaluate my credentials and freely publish your opinion on my qualifications for NIW or EB1-EA?

Credentials:
1. 7 co-authored papers published in laser and laser material research field.
2. one paper has 10 citations in peer-review journal
another paper has 3 citations in peer-review journal
another paper was cited by a USA web site
3. Have a degree of master of science in physics
4. able to get recommendation letters from US and Canada researchers and professors.

Problem:
I left academic and research arena in 2000 and started working for a IT service company which has almost no relationship with my previous research field. My current job title is software engineer. Will these be a problem for my application for NIW or EB1-EA? Am I qualified to apply NIW or EB1-EA?

(My company doesn't do Green Card application for forign nationals. That is why I have to come up with something else to persue a possible GC path.)

I would have to say a self petition would be a challenge. You would have to establish the link between physics and your current job and explain why *you* are the best in this field. If there is no link, I must say I don't like your chances.

switch job to related to physics

Thank you for the analysis!

If I am able to find a job related to physics and create a link between my previous research and the job, will it be a good case to apply either NIW or EB1-EA? A few top researchers in the related field agreed to write recommendation letters.

I don't have much knowledge of immigration law, so I have intention to hire a attorney to help me for the applications.

Most of the immigration attorneys will perform a free review of your qualifications and credentials and let you know what the chances are for your petition.Then you can decide whether to go for NIW or some other category depending upon the advice of the attorney.
