NI visa - important YES or NO

I booked an appointment for B1 visa interview in Novemeber and i was supposed to send the demand draft and DS156 before sept 1st.

since i did not send the paperwork, i assumed my appointment must have been cancelled by the system, so i tried to rebook the appointment, but it said you will have to CANCEL the november appointment.
so if i send the DS 156 now(late by 20 days) do you think they will accept it.

any body with an experience of sending DS 156 later than the advised date.

I will be sending to Mumbai consulate and i dont want to lose the november date since the next available is like mid January.

Please help.
