Ngwania v Ashcroft--should we request for status?

If I understand it correctly, the settlement was/is pending review and concurrence by district judge. I would recommend one of us (preferrable the moderator) contact AILF (attention: Legal Assistant Kerry Foley at AILF: kfoley@ailf.org or (202) 742-5607) and request the district court's timeline.

I believe this is important milestone in that once the judge reviewed and agreed to the settlement, INS will assign a contact person who is responsible to track down the processing timeline (status) of asylees and provide information upon request (by our attorneys or ourselves?).

Dear Jimmy,

You're welcome. We're glad we could help so many of you.

We expect the case to be presented to the judge in three months. We'll post something on the web when it is presented and accepted.

Regards,
Kerry Foley

Miss Foley,

Thanks for your hard work on the Asylee Lawsuit which gave us all the result we were hoping for. Do you know when the case will be presented to the Judge for his final approval of the settlement?

With Regards,

Jimmy

Just Waiting

Whenever the judge makes the decision, the CIS has accepted the results and speed up the processing. The 31,000 additional numbers have been added in CIS schedule. The adjustment schedule can be seen in the following webpage http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/nebraska/asyleeadj.htm
where we can know people with RD before March 7, 2002 may be processed in high speed if there is no other factor affected.
