Next Step after I-130 is submitted !!please help!!

I am US citizen in the process of getting my wife here. I got my receipt # from uscis for the I-130. California service center is the one processing it. They told me like 5 months; has anyone else received faster without expedite? Is there anything I can do to get ahead to make our process smoother for when it arrives at the national visa center(NVS)? Thank you for anything helpful you can provide! Did I mess up by only sending in the I-130? I have read other post and people submitted more than just the I-130.

They told you 5 months, but it is usually processed faster. It's an estimate, not an absolute truth.

I forgot to mention the G325a as well. but i did not do the bag with the photos cause uscis just said to send photos of both, and put the names on the back of them. It is good to hear it could be a shorter time than 5 months. is there anything i can do or prepare to help the nvc go quicker?
