With INS\'s commitment to AILA that they would reduce the backlog to one year by the end of summer and directives/memos from higher authorities in INS to local offices/centers asking them to speed up the process (source: immigration-law.com), next month should be really crucial in deciding whether INS can stick up their promise or not.
Based on previous years observation, i think the 485 adjudication activities at VSC would reduce considerably after that till the end of this year. I personally foresee most of the applications prior to June/July 99 adjudicated before the end of August or mid September.
