Newark experience: painful but happy at the end

During the interview at Newark, the officer asked to present the proof of the traffic tickets listed on the form. I didn't carry any proof with me, I was honest to just list them on the form. He kept asking me the proof and at one time almost closed the file. Those moments were very painful as I thought I am almost failed. Then suddenly I realized that I have instructions of N-400 that say no documents need to be submitted if traffic violations are less than $500, and I showed him the instructions. However, he was not convinced somehow! God knows what happened that he told me he would clarify with his supervisor. He left the room and talked with his supervisor for 5 miniutes. Those were the looong 5 miniutes for me! Then I heard supervisor telling the officer "traffic violations less than $500 do not count"...and I got relaxed. He came back to the office and resumed the interview. I passed everything finally! So, it sometimes helps if we politely request the officer to check with his supervisor. Probably he was not aware of the new instructions of N-400. I Hope this helps you guys.
