Hi Guys,
I had applied for my 2nd EAD and I have not got it yet... My first EAD is expiring end of this month.Couple of people have suggested that I could try walk-in to INS @ Newark and appeal in person. Though it is their perogatory

1) is there anyone who has done like this?
2) There are many INS offices in Newark--which one should we go?
3) Should we schedule an appointment?

Please share your experience..
Thanks

You can walk in and apply to any of the INS office. There is no such
jurisdiction issue here. But do it in your home state, where your
address is.

On the first hand why did you apply it to the Service Center. If it is
fthe first EAD it should be OK. For the second one you should have
atleast done it in person so that these kind of last min worries are
avoided.

In EAD application, they say that 90-days should have elapsed from the
receipt/notice date of your application to ths Service Centers before
you try to apply in person at the local INS office. If 90 days havent
passed yet they may not entertain your application in the local INS
office.

But you can push your card expiry problems to them so that they can
issue you right away.

Anyway, dont work if you dont have a valid EAD. It may have problems
later for you and for your employer. For your employer it may become
a question of violating I-9 compliance.

Thanks.

1)It was my oversight for not applying before 90 days.
I would be completing close to 50+ days since the RD for EAD

2) I did not know we could have walk-in and apply for EAD. Atleast in Newark, from discussion board + INS they said we have to apply over mail and Newark processing was takiong 4+ months for EAD.
so I thought VSC was the place. Also at that tinme VSC was doing this EAD very quickly--ie in a month\'s time.

Hi Guys,

There was a comunication problem in my case with lawyer and he did not file till may 4th.

My EAD expired on 5/18. I am not working now. I don\'t know what to do in this scenario. I guess in NJ (both Newark and cherry hill) they dont entertain walk-in. But in philly u can walk in and get the EAD right away. But I am not sure whether we can go over there.

I am going to go philly and apply for that. And also I will be trying to go Cherry Hill area also. I would avoid Newark. Thats what I think. Anybody has different suggestion, pl let us know

Regards
