New York Asylum Office October 2013 Interviews

Is there anyone like me that was interviewed in NY in October?
They told me to come pick up my decision in 2 weeks, then sent me home without telling me anything on the day they were supposed to deliver a decision.

In short the asylum offices are scheduling interviews based on a “last in, first out” system. This means that newer cases receive higher priority than older cases. Higher priority is given to cases less than 21 days old. Next are cases that are between 22 and 100 days old. After this are cases that are over 100 days old (see USCIS Affirmative Asylum Procedures Manual, “Scheduling Priorities”).

So you are lucky to have your interview right on time.

I think it is not exactly last in first out, when I inquired about my asylum case, asylum office responded that they were conducting interviews (in September, 2013) of cases from 2012, also they told me that because of number of detainees rose significantly affirmative asylum cases got backlogged

There is logic that detainees are receiving interviews first as they are living in government sponsored detain centers, so they should be served first.
 
I agree that they are doing last in first out, however not that I was told to pick up a decision after my interview and then there was no decision, I am not 'off the track' and my case is now in the 'old' pile. Getting an interview is not any luckier' than not getting one especially if there is no decision. The AO will forget our interview and just see it as a stack of papers now, no one will know from just papers without looking at me that I am actually afraid.

Relax you have not even reached 180 days required by law

I went to the asylum office yesterday and i was told that my decision has been mailed 'today' and that i should expect it in a week or a week and a half. I just checked my status online and there is nothing there. I guess i have been DENIED because from what i have read , when you are GRANTED, it shows CARD/DOCUMENT PRODUCTION online. The woman at the office said she cannot tell me my decision that i should expect it in the mail. I have to start doing research for a good attorney and pray that money should fall from the sky because i don't even have the EAD. My brothers/sisters please pray hard on your cases because no matter the circumstances that happened to you only God can provide you with the Good decision. I dialed the Immigration court number and entered my A number but they said my case cannot be found. Maybe it is a NOID. The fun is, i am out of Status . I don't really know what to expect. When i check my EAD online it still says Pending. Any idea .......

April 2013 :Asylum application sent
April 2013 : Received acknowledgement of receipt for asylum
May 2013: Fingerprint notice received
May 2013: I went to do my fingerprint
May 2013: Interview notice recieved
June 2013 : Interview done at Rosedale office Queens NY
September 2013: EAD applied after 154 days
October 2013 : Received acknowledgement of receipt of EAD application
Friday 10/25/2013 Decision Mailed today
Today!!!! Still waiting for EAD/ Asylum decision.

I think you will get the letter no later than Wednesday next week.

Wish you luck.

Even if you are not granted and referred to court you can prepare your case well. For example you can ask your relatives or Friends from your country or here in USA to give you statements that your fear of persecution is legitimate. Also find it's up to you but if you present on court video or photo evidence that your family member is protesting in your home country against government or the group in control of country.

You still have something even if your case ir referred
 
Journalist7 thank you. I asked an attorney online and she said "Don't base your concern on the USCIS website. They don't update it that quickly. Give it some time. They use the slowest mail option possible. Good luck to you". Plus i called the immigration court number and they didn't have my case. I just pray and hope for the best.
 
Thank You sadsoul. I will update my status immediately i get the news. Please i also hope that your name will soon change to happysoul because our lives are in God's hands. If He say Yes no one can say NO. I will tell u guys the good news soon.

On October 28, 2013, we received this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION and request that the filing fee be waived. The filing fee has been waived and we have mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. This case is being processed at our Intake Processing Center. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.
What does this mean? I read on one thread where some one had the same Message and was GRANTED ASYLUM. I hope the same applies to me.

He is the one who gave the AO the job and He can decide on Your case as He wishes. Please change your trend of thought. You may have a very good case and because of such comments above end up being denied. I wish u luck though, but "THERE IS NOTHING THAT GOD CANNOT DO"

Congratulations,
if you put your Z number and it show they are ordering your EAD card, that mean you had been granted permanent asylum.
Now regarding GOD,
there are people who truly believe and have faith in God like you and they apply for asylum and they got it,
but then there are people who truly believe and have faith in God just like you but they got their asylum rejected,
and they were forced to return to their country and got killed.

the same thing can be said to people who do NOT believe in God,
sometimes they got their asylum approved some times, they do NOT get their asylum approved.

Believing in God is NOT a guarantee that you will get your asylum,
NOT believing in God is NOT a guarantee that you will get your asylum too.
so it doesn't matter whether you believe in God or NOT.

I hope You are not saying/thinking that people who do NOT believe in God, don't deserve to get asylum right?
or you hope people that believe in God but have different religion than you, don't deserve to get asylum.

everybody deserve to get asylum if their life is in danger for any reason despite they believe in God or NOT.

Don't preach your religion or your believe here,
this forum is for people who want to get information on asylum,
people apply for asylum because of many reason,

Now, I am going to make example for people who apply for asylum because of religion reason,
there are several possibility,
some because they believe in their religion and other people with different religion in their country want to kill them,
some because they do NOT believe in God and other people who do believe in religion in their country want to kill them.

every body have the right and chance to get asylum no matter they believe in God or NOT.
it is the basic human rights,
don't force people to believe in what you believe,
you don't want other to force you to believe what you don't believe right ? :)

I understand that you are happy that you just got approved and you want to show other that you got it because you believe in Gods,
but there are many people who got asylum because they do NOT believe in the Gods you believe or
they got asylum because they do NOT believe in Gods at all.

Asylum is basically a STORY TELLING.
if you are good at telling your story, supported by facts/solid proof, complete with good organized prepared presentation,
most likely you will be approved whether you believe in Gods or NOT.
if you are NOT doing a good preparation and got caught lying about the facts or bad at story telling,
then most likely you will NOT be approved whether you believe in Gods or NOT.

again congratulations to you, and hopefully you will NOT forget to came back to this forum to help other who might need your help
with your experience in applying for asylum.
and you are willing to help other here no matter who they are, whether they believe in Gods or NOT,
and you are willing to help them without persuading (read: forcing) them to believe what you believe :)

just remember that back in your country,
You run away and apply for asylum here in US because other are forcing what they believe to you !
You don't want to be that kind of bad person right ?

now, in case you haven't know about this,
I want to inform you that as soon as you got your EAD (permanent one) with code EAD A05,

then you can apply for NON RESTRICTED Social Security Card RIGHT AWAY.
Bring your NEW I-94 too, (not your old I-94 but the new one issued after you got your asylum approved).

but
if the people in Social Security office have problem checking your status with your I-94 number,
(cause the I-94 data updated at slower pace),
then tell them to try and use the EAD A05 number to check your status instead.
cause those EAD were updated real time/right away.
I-94 will be updated but sometimes took a week or 10 days more :)

at least that is what I learn from the experience of past poster here.
 
Hahahahahahahaha. I like the way you are very optimistic . Can you imagine that my 180th day was yesterday!!!! Soon i will go to my mail box to check. My decision was mailed on Friday. I could be receiving it any time soon. Whatever the outcome , this forum helps a lot . I have a few people i know who were Granted Asylum and were becoming fed up with my calls. Lucky that i have you people here because you guys don't complain and go straight to the root of a person's problem. Thanks again and again!!!!!!!
 
CARD/DOCUMENT PRODUCTION
Hello everyone. Some few minutes ago i checked the status of my Asylum Using my Z** number and it now says;
On October 28, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.
I just imagine what it means........ Is there anyone who knows better? From previous threads i am tempted to think that i might have been GRANTED ,given that i went to their office on Friday and they said that my decision was mailed to me that same Friday . Then today it went to CARD/DOCUMENT PRODUCTION.
