New VSC Bulletin Due shortly - 14 months delay for I-485

Dear Friends:

VSC normally puts out a bulletin on processing times areound the 10th of each month. For the past few months it has been Sept 2001 cases for I-485 processing and officially it is 9/15/2001 cases they are doing.

The truth of the matter is that they are still clearing all 2001 backlog cases, RFE cases and there are still some September filers waiting to hear from the VSC, even non-RFE cases. So for the September non-RFE folks their wait has become 14 months and still counting.

As for October filers who are still waiting, although we have seen many October approvals the new notice may officially say processing 10/1/2001 cases. This would officially mean that VSC will now focus more on October than on the backlog and October filers should see things moving through this month into December so once again it is 14 months.

This wait keeps getting extended with each passing month and if there are new filers for I-485 they should strongly consider going through Consular Processing and filing paperwork immediately will not be a bad idea.

Lets wait and see what tomorrow brings when the new bulletin is published.

GOD help us all!!!!

Is my assessment incorrect?

My Dear Friend:

You seem to have been on this site long enough to see the delays at VSC.

Yes I've made assumptions but the fact that we are at 14 months is indisputable.

Lets see what the week brings with the VSC bulletin. If they say 9/30/2001 cases we October filers are screwed. If they say 10/1/2001 cases there is some hope.

There are only 10 working days left in November starting Monday through the following Friday. (11/11 through 11/22).

Then we go into Holiday week where there will be very few approvals. Next we are into December.

This thing makes us all so very helpless without any recourse

When the IIO does not give any information the only thing left is to reason this unreasonable situation. Hope you understand!!!

Bandra,

Bandra,

I like your assessment. Here is what I think. VSC will not post their update until they can write processing Oct 1, 2001. This could be after 10 days or so. I hope this is the case. (My RD is Oct 1, 2001).

The good news is that they are processing Oct cases and one day sooner or later our date will come. I am just going to let this thing ride out. There are ~ 360 Oct applicants. Every day they are approving about 3 Oct cases. The stastical probability that I will be approved on the first day was 3/360 ~ < 1%. The probability gets more as the days pass on. On Monday, the probability will be 3/(360 - 110) ~ 1.25% (110 Oct cases have been approved).

That's the good news. The bad news is that I have not received approval yet - that's still not too bad - but the good days are not too far (god willing!!!)

I think most Oct candidates will be approved by mid of next month (say 4 per day * 45 = 180). If some Oct candidate is not approved till Dec 15 then it is a cause for worry. That's my take on this thing that is taking us to the edge.

Good luck!

Bandra, I agree with you

But staying so long has its drawbacks.......either you become very pessimistic or highly optimistic...I fall into later...
Hopefully you get your approval real soon, BTW mine is Jan'09th RD

So its 9/30/2001 - 14 months and counting

Now that we think we know what VSC is doing it seems they will be continuing focusing on Sept 2001 and all RFE cases for 2001.

October filers will see a trickle of approvals and will have to wait till December to see this progress ahead.

Keep waiting guys. Hang in there!!!!
