Hi All,

First of all, thanks very much for to the members of the forum. It has been extremely useful for me to read on these threads time to time to get a feel for my application processing including GC and now citizenship.

I had my oath ceremony yesterday in Boston, and I am a citizen now. My case had few twists and I thought it would be useful for future users if I post the details.

Applied In Dec 2005
FP Done some time in Feb
Got interview letter for sometime in March. Unfortunately coincided with my travel plans. So, Wrote a letter to INS requesting to get a new interview date.
Got a new interview date, and done with it on May 8th. No decision was made. Reason is, I was arrested for mistaken identity some 10 years back and was immidiately released as police realized that they got the wrong guy. Got apology letter for chief of police, and copy of police report. So, during my interview, officer asked me for the original of the report, which I did not have, and offcourse my lawyer did not tell me to get a certified copy (complete waste of money for lawyer). The officer told me that she would recommend for approval but could not make decision right there during interview. To her credit, she tried calling her supervisor for approval, supervisor was not around

Initially I did not want to change my name. But I changed my mind during interview with officer, and got the name change done right there, and it did not seem to have an impact on my application processing.

She said, they will let us know by mail in 2-3 days, which in INS terms 2-3 months. Finally, I got my oath letter in mail and had my oath cermony in Boston Fanuel hall on July 26th.

BTW, I bumped into a guy yesterday at oath cermony, who completely forgot about prior oath ceremony he had, and INS was nice enough to send him second one with out requesting for yesterday.

Thanks to all of you and Good luck.
