New Updates on Stokes Interview

NYC Case

New Member
Hi all,

Hope all is well :)

I understand that are quite a few threads on Stokes Interview on the forum but I wonder if any of you have any updates regarding their recent experience and it would be great if you could kindly share!

We will have mine next week in NY. Just a silly question that probably is not worth any attention but out of curiosity - Our 2nd interview request letter that came in under my name says, "I-130 Filed by Spouse/ Stokes". My husband is a US citizen and I am the alien. We agreed I filled in the I-130 because I have better handwritings. Not sure if it caused the problem and perhaps that is why they put "I-130 Filed by Spouse" in the letter? Or I should not read too much into it?

Thanks! I hope to hear from you soon!

Yes, you shouldn't read too much into the wording on the letter that you received. Form I-130 can be filed by any of the family members like by parents, brother, sister, son, daughter and spouse. So when the letter for you states- "I-130 Filed by Spouse/Stokes" then it simply suggesting that Form I-130 is filed by spouse and case is a marriage-based case. It certainly doesn't refer to who filled in this Form'. It doesn't matter to them who fills this form in. And yes, it's for a Stokes Interview as it does say about it.

Somebody else can physically write in the information, but the US citizen sponsor is the person who must sign it. And if somebody else writes in the information, the answers must be as if the US citizen were filling it out. But if it was you the noncitizen who signed it, they would have rejected it long ago.

Thanks, Jackolantern! Yes, my husband, the US citizen signed it. You are right. Attorneys' assistants fill out forms every day for their clients too :)

hi

i am sorry that you and your wife have to go through this dreadful process and especially the one of a stokes interview, believe me i know how you feel. so let me try to share as much as i can.
well, first my initial interview was in sept 2008, and i was handed at the end of it a letter by my interview officer, stating that we must appear 2 months later me and my wife for a second interview. i knew right at that moment that it would be a stokes one.
we prepared rigourously me and my wife for it since we knew that it is our second and last chance, we went over every single detail wether it was small or big about our life.
we showed up on the 4th of november 2008 at garden city. the officer was nice and professional, he interviewed my wife separately first then after 30 minutes it was my turn. the questions were as follow:
what's your wife name? how do you spell it?
what's your wife birthday? where was she born?
how old is she? what did you get her for the last birthday? what did you do for your last anniversary? when was the last time you took her out? describe how you first met? what's your address? is there a basement in your building? whats the landlord name? how much is the rent? describe your bedroom?
when you leave your bedroom going to the bathroom do you make a left or a right?...
there were so many questions that i cant list all, but i guess you get the picture!!
at the end he brought my wife back into the room, and i will never forget what he said at that moment. he told us that he was very delighted for us, and the the I-130 has been approved, he told my lawyer that this is a perfect couple as we answered every question exactly the same way, which made him really astonished. so he told me that after a review of the I-485 i should hear a response. and after 10 days exactly, i received an email with CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED.
it was really tough, my advice to you is to stay calm, absolutely do not volunteer information and make sure you are on the same page on EVERYTHING you and your wife, every single thing. dont get me wrong but even the most intimate stuff!!.
i wish you good luck, and hopefully you will have your green card soon.

I receieved these questions, the lock on your door, is it on the top or bottom, when you leave the house, what street are you on, just an example
