Obviously, the Processing Date for 485 has not budged from 03/2000 and this time the number of pending cases has gone up (unlike the drastic drops the last couple times).

It did show that I-131 and I-765 are being processed March and February respectively.

I still think they don\'t move the Processing Date for 485 unlike other centers so they can give you the same old bull of they are processing March 2000 cases so you will have to wait for another year or two for your case.

Anyway, good luck to all that are waiting and lets hope for the best.

No Title

On the other hand, look at I-140, from 179 days of processing 7,073 pending applications, it has dropped to 46 days of 2,325 pending applications. That is, the processing date changed from 09/02/01 to 02/13/02 (5 whole months).

Let\'s welcome the 4,000 new I-485 applicants.

hope it comes true!

GKing- I hope your predictions regarding I-485 comes true, we all
will be smiling if the processing times comes down to less than a year. My RD is 08/01 and ND 09/01 with NO FP yet, so it will certainly make me happy.

I think something will happen because the backlog is getting to a point beyond which it will become unmanageable. After all, nobody wants to dig through files that are over two years old and INS officers are no exception.

let\'s be optimistic ...

Gking is right. but...

Like I said a month ago, I-485 pending number will increase, now, it\'s true, because processing time didn\'t move Feb, neither March, unless TSC put more staff on I-485 cases, obviously it didn\'t. They can only do one thing right at same time, not more things -- TSC doesn\'t predict the consequence of what they are doing.

When March processing time came out, some people thought TSC\'s I485 is improving, in fact, it\'s not --
No processing time moving, no improving. Now it\'s worse.

With huge I-140 cases have been flooding into I-485 stage, there are some possibilities may happend to TSC:

1. I-140 processing time is about 2 months, so I140 premium progrssing is useless. Will I-485 premium processing pop up? This way TSC can make money on it. So many later I485 filers can get approved earlier than 45,700 old-cases filers, which have no chance to take advantage of it.

2. TSC send I-485 cases to other INS centers -- Let\'s pray for that!

3. With backlog increased, country qoute may comes out again, then, some late PD guys will not be allowed to file their I485, or their filed application will be left in file-room until backlog decreased.

4. but, anyway, like president Bush requested, INS\'s goal is that AOS case is going to reduced to 6 months in fiscal year 2003, which begins in Oct. 2002.

5. I can predict TSC will not improve I-485 cases in at least 3 months before there\'s fire on thier heads.

Let\'s see.

Just some thoughts.

I-140\'s are moving at such an incredible pace that naturally I-485s are going to follow.

My I-140 took one full year. Now it will only take a few months. TSC is obviously moving in the direction of simultaneous I-140/I-485 processing and adjudications.

What will likely happen is they will soon switch from an I-140 focus to massive I-485 adjudications. It will probably help all of us only marginally, but the subsequent group of people who are now getting approvals or filing I-140s will really benefit from a minimal turnaround time of their I-485s next year.

GKing is a good statician. He had good statistics in 140 board.

GKing is a good statician. He had good statistics in 140 board.Hope it continues here too.

Gking is tooooo good....

Atleast someone who takes the pains of putting some numbers together and giving us an approximate figures...though we can never judge TSC.

But this is too scary. So many of us flooding 485...

Gking

Ok Gking if that\'s your prediction then please tell me why IIO officer say that I will have to wait for another 12 months. I have called them up twice last month and each time I got the same response i.e. you need to wait for another year.. why is that?? My ND is 03/27/01 and FP is 03/06/02... No body has answered my question yet..

National Processing Times?!

Can someone comment on the following processing times?

  http://www.immigration.com/processing-times/national.html

1. What factor determines if a I485 case is to be sent to a local office?

2. There seems to be a huge difference in processing time between cities (say Atlanta and Dallas). But still, 460 days approval time is much better than the 760 days taken by INS.

Some more Statistics..

how you guys believe that I-140 all dropped down from previous processing times were approved..It might have got included in either VSC or NSC wherever its processed as far as TSC concerns they don\'t have their case..so they might have given 4000 to NSC and VSC which they may not bring into their records..

SWARNA, I-140 processing time is Feb, 2002-- obvious enough to know.

no metter transferred or not, mostly got approved in 2 months recently, it was 10 months last year.

Processing time and EAD!

According to new processing time regarding EAD, adjudication date and processing days for EAD are: 02/15/02 and 44. The details of my I-485 and EAD are: RD 01/04/02, ND 01/04/02, EB2. Last night I checked the AVM, got the same old message - "It will take..." which means No EAD yet. That probably qualifies the statement I have heard "TSC is extraordinarily famous for their randomness"!

Local office time are for apps directly filed with them

Bajis, the local office processing times apply to applications filed directly with the office and not case transfers from the Service Centers. From what I have seen usually when a case gets transferred from a Service Center to Local office the applicant gets an interview within a couple of months.

The people that apply directly to the local offices are usually family based petitions, Visa Lottery winners who are going to AOS and some asylum cases. Which office you apply to depends upon the City you live in. If you notice Houston has a huge backlog. Being as culuturally diverse and large as the city is as well as a lot of people from South of us applying they have a lot more applicants here.

Cities that have shorter procesing times are normally because of less applicants in that area

Reason that a I-485 case gets transferred could be:
1) to help reduce backlog,
2) If the officer thinks you should be interviewed (which Service Centers don\'t do),
3)Just INS randomness.

Hope this helps answer your questions.

Analysis-good news for all of us!?

1)Over all reduction in the number of all type of cases in TSC with the exception of EAD, Asylum cases.
2)case reduction/approval in FEB/MAR for I-140 creates new case loads for I-485 cases,
3)I-485\'s were actually approved at a very fast pace during March at the rate of somewhere around 5,000 to 8,000. The logic...there were over 10,000 I-140 cases approved in FEB and MAR, assuming half of those approved cases fild I-485 during March, the increase in total I-485 cases filed were actually offset by number of cases approved. This seems to be a saft estimate.
4) since the march report reflect 3/2/02, it actually shows Feb case approval instead of Mar case approval movement...there\'s always one month lag in the report
5) therefore, I predict we will see number of pending 485 cases increase for the 4/3/02 report, but steadily reduce by about 7,500 a month. (because, there won\'t be as many as 5000 a month I-140 cases approved going forward to contribute to the I485 case build up)
6) the over all I485 approval will take about 9 to 12 months from start to finish, with the trend of later filed cases take less time than existing filers.
7) Hope that\'s good logic and prediction...any thoughts?

By the way, as a very unfortunate GC filer, I\'ve experienced several immigration processing cycles. Believe me, this same pattern happened back in 1990 when we rushed into 6.4 GC and later in 1994 when the service center had a case reduction initiative.

Don\'t forget that a large percentage (50%?) go CP so this should even out roughly with the derivati
