well, been posting at the citizenship part of the forum but as of today I am a US citizen.
i need a question answered if you guys can help me out. the DS-11 application, which one do i choose? i want the regular (blue) passport like everyone else which i could use to travel by air. which one is it, the passport card or book?
also, i will travel this july but have not booked my tix yet. there is a part on the application that asks for travel plans, countries to be visited and dates. i don't know those yet? what do i do about that section of the application?
anyone out there who can help me out?

check the pass book and you can leave the travel date blank. its not really required :)

First of all, congrats on becoming a citizen! I am very happy for you.

I would recommend you use the online wizard to fill out the application and then simply print it out. It guides you through the steps and helps you identify which information is mandatory versus optional. You can access the wizard direct at https://pptform.state.gov/

I can't believe now I'm also posting in the Life After Citizenship section now! :D

I applied for both the book and the card. Just an extra $25. I do visit
Canada a few times a year, so a passport card will fit nicely in my wallet.
(just like how I always had my greencard in my wallet)

In addition, I guess my passport card will come in handy if I lose my passport
book while on a trip to Europe, for example. I used to carry a passport and
a photocopy... a passport card is probably more official and easy to identify
me in case I need to go into the US embassy to get an emergency passport
to return to the US? :)
