My wife had her AOS in Chicago on May 1, 2003. Although the officer took her finger prints for the card and verbally approved the case, he did not stamp the passport. His quote "new security checks for K-1 applicants are slower than AOS interviews". He told us that her finger print checks were cleared but there were new security checks implemented and they were still awaiting results. Once cleared they would mail us an approval notice which would enable us to get her passport stamped.
Any idea on the timeline of the new security checks? Any other similar experiences?
