It's sad to say this, but I think those dates are not really accurate. I applied for adjustment of status in 2004, and I already received my GC. I know it is a long and painful path in life for all of the people who were forced to chose this way to immigrate to the United States, but we should keep an optimistic attitude that everything is going to be ok.
