My understanding is that "vacant" means that there are no cases on the "shelf" for the IIOs to take to adjudicate. That is, all the cases are either 1) waiting to receive the results of "agency checks" (i.e. fingerprint results from FBI) or 2) are waiting for priority dates to become current (i.e. "visa not available".
This is a mystery to me, because I know a lot of people have done fingerprints in the last month or so. I am particularly mystified because I am an EB3, and EB3s are quite far behind other categories. I don\'t see how EB3 can be vacant.
If they got the FBI fingerprint results into the file more quickly, there would be no "vacant" listing in my opinion.
Still, we shouldn\'t complain. The CSC is doing a great job compared to some of the other service centers. I for one am grateful that they are doing such a good job that "vacant" is possible, even if it is mystifying.
Frankus is right. "Vacant" means no file is on the shelves. This is
not the first time CSC has issues a "vacant" processing time for I-485
cases. They have done this many times in the past. Ron once said not
to trust any JIT reports released by CSC. Nonetheless, I agree with
Frankus that CSC is doing a good job processing AOS compared to
other service centers which are still mostly processing late 99 cases.
Hope you are right EndlessWait, great news about your case being assigned. My FP was taken just 2 days before - Feb.20 so I hope one of these days we\'ll get the good news...
took me 3 hours to get through INS IIO. but was told that they have not received my FP. FBI confirmed that my FP was sent to INS on FEB 27. but the IIO said there is backlog at INS to put new FP results into their system. she slao said it is some contractors who are responsible for updating the FP. anybody else checked you FP status with INS? please post. thanks.
did my fingerprints on January 14th (my wife got her fingerprint notice 3 months earlier and did hers in early November). Called FBI and was told results sent to INS on January 17th. Verified with CSC IIO that they were received, but they only show up in secondary system. As of last Monday still shows as having not received fingerprints when primary system is checked.
