new procedure - originals to NVC

Just spoke to NVC. The lady said, with P3, we will have to send originals/cert. copies of birth cert and marriage cert to the NVC. They send it onwards to the consulate and we don\'t get it back.

Does anyone have experience with getting certified copies of these certs from the issuing agencies in India ? Specifically, mine are from Mumbai, is it easy ? How long does it take ?

Getting Certified Copies

It is advisable to procure a certified copy when you are obtaining the original. If you didn’t do that, consider providing the original to the issuing agency while requesting a certified copy; it will speed up processing. Of course, processing times will vary depending on the agency. In general, certified copies for birth and marriage certificates can be obtained on the same day. For PCC, it is advisable to get two copies while getting the original.

As an aside, the only reason why you would want additional certified copies is to hedge against the risk of NVC losing your documents.

SPoke with an officer and I was given the info that
the originals will be given back to the candidate
here and they are supposed to be taken to the interview..
