New passport question

I just got married and want to change my wife's surname on her passport. She is on H4 rite now. Is there any complications or disadvantage in changing the surname because after surname change she will get new passport and then she needs to keep both old and new passport where ever she travels anywhere..

I will appreciate if you can give me more information about this process
