New passport for wife

We\'ve recently got our passports stamped after GC approval. My wife\'s passport still shows her old name before marriage but her 485 approval (and GC) has her new name.
1. If she gets a new passport from the Indian consulate, can she use the new passport while travelling? What I mean is will the arrival/departure record be stamped on the new passport even though the GC is stamped on the old passport?
2. Will the Indian consulate issue a new passport based on passport stamping, or we have to wait for physical green card.

use the "change of name " form from Indian consulate and change name of ur wife . They will stamp her passport with new name under OBSERVATION note.

Changing name ...

Changing name locally is not an easy task. Unless, you registered with some authority in India when you got married and changed wife\'s name. If you did then you should have proof and it is as easy as ammending the passport. But, in case there is no proof, Indian consulate might ask you to advertise in the local news paper at the marriage place and ask you for the cutting etc. Try to approach consulate and see what they say !
