New passport for the stamp?

I am expecting my approval pretty soon. My passport expires in March 2002. Is it a good idea to get the new passport before getting the stamp? or do they always have to stamp the old passport anyway, the one that was used for I-485 filing?
 
Your PP must be valid for atleast next 6 months, only then you can get the stamp on your PP

It is a requirement.

The Officer do check the validation of the passport during stamping process. Just apply a new passport through Embassy or Consulate. If you have questions on how to apply a new passport, I am sure there are a lot of people can share their experiences.
