President Bush will name Eduardo Aguirre, Jr. of Texas as Acting Director of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Service at the Department of Homeland Security.
I read somewhere that Mr. Aguirre was born in Cuba. This would make him the first naturalized citizen to serve as immigration chief in American history, I think. I hope he will have some empathy with fellow immigrants.
