I was reading in the news that if the Immigration Bill passes which is still under debate then it will become very difficult for the US citizens to sponsor their children, parents or siblings. Now will the law apply to the spouse. Will they make it difficult for the USA citizen to sponsor his/her spouse. Please let me know. Thanks.

No, I don't think there is any such proposal in the cards. Spouses and minor children will continue to be treated as immediate relatives with the highest priority (among the family-based categories).

Agree ... my understanding is that, if passed, the bill would make it tougher on older children and siblings.

It will make it harder to get your parents over here though (Similarly adult kids and siblings)

I guess when USCIS has to process 400,000 Z category visas, they will have less time to spend time on family based visas. :(

The new immigration bill under debate is confusing to me. It says there is around 87,000 cap per year for green card holder's spouse and non-adult children. I don't know if the immediate relatives of US citizen is also subject to the 87,000 cap. Any input?
