New here. Here's my case....

I received an RFE today because our household income does not meet the 125% poverty line. My husband is a handyman and a musician. He did not earn that much money last year. I, on the other hand, is on B2 visa so I cannot work. To make up for the difference, we used his assets. I submitted an Appraisal report for our house, Mortgage statement as evidence of liens, and a business tax permit which is dated 2004. I tried to get an updated permit but when I called the Tax Permit office in L.A., they told me that the permit is active and they do not issue a new one unless there are changes in the business (e.g. location or type of ownership). I went ahead and mailed a copy of the permit that we have. I also included tax returns from 2003-2005.

Now I don't know why they are asking for copies again. Did they just missed the previous documents that I sent or they were not satisfied with what I sent them? Should I just go ahead and send the whole package again together with the RFE letter?

Sounds like your Affidavit of Support is complex. Have you considered getting a co-sponsor, which may make your case easier.

It is a little bit complicated. We thought about the joint sponsor as a last resort and tried to send any document that we have that would help. The problem is my husband & I can't find a joint sponsor. My closest relative here is my aunt (my mom's sister) in NYC. She is a housewife and her husband is working for a US company, but he is assigned in Nigeria. My in-laws are retired. There is nobody else to ask since my closest friends here are on H-1 visa. If worse comes to worse, we would try to ask a friend who's renting one of the rooms in our house. He makes enough money. It's just so hard to ask somebody who's not a family member.

make sure to point out that since your husband has bene working for many years, that he won't have to wait for the ten years/40 credits test.
