New Health Reform - how it will work?

Hi,

as a permanent resident, I am curious about new health reform that was adopted. It says that "everybody will be insured".

How it will work? Does it concern permanent resident also? If so, how it will be paid? Just somehow from taxes (so one won't notice change) or there'll be a special compulsory monthly check to pay ?

I wonder if anybody has good clarification to this issue.

It's not adopted yet. There will be revisions before the House and Senate agree on the bill and the President signs it. All indications are that permanent residents are included, and there will be a mandate to get insurance through your employer or elsewhere or you will have to pay a tax/fine, with subsidies for the poor who can't afford insurance on their own. The flip side is that the insurer will not be able to reject you or charge extra because of pre-existing conditions.
