New H1 and port of entry was notified

Following is my situation Please Advice.

I came to US thru H4 and applied for H1 at VSC in June 2001 for company A thru regular processing and H1 was approved, but never received a paycheck thru company A as I couldn't get a project.

Later in Sep 2002, I applied for H1 thru company B in CSC and got a RFE and never bothered to reply the RFE as I didn't had paychecks.

Again in Mar 2003, I landed in a Job with company C and applied for H1 thru company C at TSC thru premium processing and H1 approved, but the Approval Notice mentioned as "On April 17, 2003 the appropriate American Consulate or port of entry was notified by cable, telephone, or fax of the approval of this case."

FYI, My spouse hold a H1 too.

My questions are:
1) What does the message in Approval Notice mean. Do I have to go to India to get stamped my passport.
2) If I have to go, what is latest date I should get stamped, I can go after six months from now as I joined project just now.
3) Mean while, Can I receive paychecks/salary from Company C.
4) Am I legal in US, based upon the situation described above.

when does your old I94 expire ?
did you get the new I94 along with your new H1B approval ?

you are ok...

In the H1 application proces you have to list the nearest consulate in the home country..so that "consulate was informed" message is pretty standard.
The key Q as meow says is did you get the I-94 with the C company's approval notice..if you did not you cannot work and the INS probly knows that you are out of status in the USA...
otherwise if you got a current unexpired I-94 from the latest H1 application you are ok.

My I-94 on H4 expired, but I-94 I got thru Company A isvalid until June 2004. As I didn't ever worked for company A, I think my I-94 is not valid. Am I correct. I didn't received I-94 with company C. Please advice what should I do.
