New District Office??

While torturing myself today on the USCIS Website, I just happened to look at the map of Field Offices (hey, whaddya do when you're just waiting on an LUD or sign of life from them?). Lo and behold, right there when I click on my state, up pops a NEW District Office. Yes, six days after I filed our cases, a new district office was opened for my region and guess where it is. This is the good part. New Orleans. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Memphis is now my "sub office".

So.. when I schedule my InfoPass appt, which I undoubtedly will have to do if we are ever to get an EAD, do I go to New Orleans or Memphis?? Memphis is a 400 mile drive - I don't think Louisiana is any closer, LOL. This is getting almost comical. I think my case must be in the SuperDome.

The Memphis Office has always been a sub-office of the New Orleans district office. The New orleans office was closed after Katrina and recently re-opened(June 6th I think). During the temporary closure, cases in New Orleans were transferred to Memphis(probably responsible for the backlog) and Memphis also assumed most of the functions of the New Orleans DO.

Logically, getting the New Orleans DO up and running should relieve Memphis of its additional responsibilities and speed up the process....alas, there aint nothing logical about USCIS operations.

Don't worry, ur interview, infopass etc will still be conducted at the Memphis Office.

Thank you for the explanation, Kevin, and for the moral support ;) If you get to Graceland before I do, say HI to Elvis for me... :D

The guy above is the latest I know interview-wise.

He had his interview on August 2nd 2006.

He filed his forms on December 17th 2005...with an ND of December 28th 2005. Took around 7 months from ND to interview. that's approximately 210 days...scary huh?

But then his case might not be definitive of what's really going on in Memphis.

If u look at Ari's sticky thread, Sweetart had her interview on April 28th 2006. Her ND was September 30th 2205.

Now 2Herald had her interview on May 4th 2006(a week after Sweetart)..yet her ND was December 1st 2005.

One wonders what they were doing between May and August...it took 'em three months to process cases with Nd's between Dec 2nd and December 27th 2005?

Tsk..tsk..tsk...*shaking my head*..I guess we gotta pray for a miracle for someone to do what he/she's being paid to do.

The USCIS director said all AOS applications would have a six-month cycle from start to finish by September 2006...that's right, and I'm six months pregnant...

Forreal though...I need to bring the ombudsman's attention to the stagnation at Memphis. Maybe if he calls 'em out in his next report they'd do better.

I just got an LUD on my I-485 which means someone somewhere's staring at my files and messing with the button for shyts and giggles...

I'm numb..nothing surprises me anymore.
