Hi All,

I am working out of Bangalore since last 3.10 years, I have decided to go on and file for a H1B for the year 2009,applications for which open on 1st April'08. In process of searching some authentic consultants/companies I posted my CV on couple of recruitment websites like naukri & monsterIndia, after which I have been getting emails from consulting/bodyshopping firms , with most of them asking some security fees ranging from $2,000 - $3,000 and offering a compensation of not more than $65,000, with most of them not offering a ticket to fly, wherein I am supposed to buy my own ticket and money for which will be refunded once I reach there. One among those consultants even offered me $70,000. The dilemma I am into is , how do I make out the authenticity of any company like that ?? each one of them has some decent looking website and probably would have 1 - 2 rooms offices in hyderabad, india. Moreover, in case I am unable to get H1B stamping, considerable amount of money which i pay them will be deducted(terming them as attorney charges) and the rest refunded back.I am unable to decide, to whom to give out the money(Security) and if given, whether the consultant will be filiing visa at all leave aside giving me the EAC number as a confirmation.

I have been told by some of my friends that there are corresponding llinks on the USCIS website where one can find the list of companies filing visas along with the number of visas filed. Somebody please help, guide and provide me the corresponding link on USCIS or whichever website such information is available, which will help me decide and ascertain the authenticity of atleast some of these consultants. PLease do share, if there are some other means to accomplish the same.

Request the experienced folks around to suggest me some bigger consultants whom I can approach pay some security and be assured that atleast my visa would be filed for!! . I am looking for a suitable assignment preferable as a SAP Netweaver Portal/MDM/J2EE consultant.

Guidance & Advice is needed, please do the needful.

Not to scare you but recently I read several posts in this forum about H-1B beneficiaries are out of project even after landing in the U.S.
