Hi, I a m a canadian permanent resident since 2003 and I have been outside canada for 4 years because of family matters. My PR expires Aug-2008 and I am planning to move to canada this June 2007. If my PR expires next year, will I be able to extend it as I want to stay in Canada? Perhaps can I file petition for that?

Thank you for your help.

-- You may have lost your PR status already. You have to live in Canada for 3 yrs out of every 5 year period to preserve your PR status.

-- What petition is this? Based on my response above, you might not even be considered as a PR of Canada. But if for some easons, they allow you as a PR, then you will be able to extend your PR card.
