I filed my 485 in Feb. 2002 and FBI is still doing name checking! Any idea how to track the status of it? I've heard about NNCP, what is it? How do I get in contact to get a status update?

What is your PD ? How did you filed EB 1/2/3 ?
Is your Visa date current ? sometime we think it's the Name check Etc but most of the time is either Regional is not working on Cases with your RD , or visas are not current as per your PD .

Look into the above , did your called USCIS and they told you that they are working on NC ?

Contact your US Senators and Congressmen. If they choose to help you, they can definitely track the FBI name check process and even expedite it. I did just that, contacted my state's Senators and Congressmen, and they just placed some calls (I believe to both the FBI and USCIS) and learned that both my and my wife's name had passed the FBI name check.
 
can you please give details on how to contact senators for such queries? Do you need to show them any proofs that you tried to contact uscis earlier and got no good response?

Just go to the US Congress and Senate websites and then locate your state reps. and their websites and then just fill in the form. Honestly, chances are very slim that you will get any help, but it does not hurt to try it. I was fortunate to get assistance from both my US Senators' offices, but that is likely more of the exception than the rule.
