Need Urgent Help

Hi,

I was having a L1 Visa and its due to expire on jan 9th 2004.
I recently got my new H1 B visa and a new I-94.

I want to get the new H1 Visa stamped on my passport as I intend to travel to india next year.

I have no idea what all I should do.
can anyone please let me know the list of activities I need to do?

Can I go to canada to get the new H1 Visa stamped on my passport (changing the status from L1 to H1). If so what document do I need to take?

Is there any appointment that I need to make with the US consulate in canada?

Is going to India(chennai) consulate better or canadian consulate better?

Will they give my new H1 visa as single entry or multiple entry as I need to go to india.

My L1 Visa is expiring on Jan9th and do i need to go before that data to canada?

Collect all the required docs and schedule an appointment with US consulate. Also you can get Visa stamped in India, Canada or Mexico. Check following websites.

It all depends on individual. If you were never out of status in US and have all the required papers, Canada/Mexico is better.

I have one more question. I do not have any previous documents regd my L1. Is this a problem?

Also I dont have currently my W2 forms as I have not completed one year in USA. Is W2 forms a requirement when going for H1 visa stamping?

I also dont have my LCA document. IS this required?

I think you should be allright.

Take your paychecks and current employment letter from employer.

I also dont have my LCA document. IS this required?
You need this along with copy of H-1 petition filed by employer. You might face issue without it at any US consulate India or N America.
