Need Urgent Help, Medical Situation issue

My wife went for a visit to india, she had an AP valid till last week of Apr. During her visit her 485 got approved back in the US.
Now due to some complications in the pregnancy she is now on strict bed rest and unable to travel.
So in short her AP is going to expire before she could travel back to get her passport stamped with the newly approved 485. What do you guys suggest that can be done. Should i contact the US embassy in india to find if she can be issued any temporary travel doc or extend her AP?

Does she have a valid H/L visa stamping? I am not sure, but heard that if you could prove extreme hardship, they might parole @ POE under maintaining family unity.
I think a valid H/L visa is required to come until POE.

I could be totally wrong about this, please consult a lawyer.
