I am permanent resident of Canada since last 3 years and 8 months and have already applied for my Canadian citizenship before 4 months. I hope it will take another 12 months to get the citizenship. Currently i am PHD (Food science) final year student in Canadian university and have got an offer in USA in a company to work as intern for 12 months. Internship is convertible to the permanent position in the company depending upon my performance.
My question is that on what visa should i go to US to do my intern? I enquired about J1 visa which is easy to get but i am a bit worried about 2 year residency issue. Someone informed me about H3 visa which dose not require any residency periode but i am not sure if it is the right category of visa and what are the challenges in geting this type of visa? If i decide to go on J1 visa and upon its completion if i am subjected to 2 year residency requirement and later on if i get a permanent position in the company then can i work on TN visa without fulfilling my residency requirement. Please suggest if any other category of visa is availble? Please help urgently. Your advice will be highly appreciated.
