Need Travel Authorization for next week (CA)

thot

Registered Users (C)
Hi Guys,

I really need to go back to my home country at the end of next week. I thought the INS will issue the travel authorization in the delays (between 1 and two months on the receipt).

I have waited already more than 2 months (receipt date is 1st of October) but did not receive the notice for the Travel Authorization.

Can I go directly to the INS and ask for it?
Can I go to any INS office in California?
Can I do something else?

Thank you for your help.

Thomas

Call INS

Here is what I tried. I am not sure if I got approved but it definately moved my file. Still waiting to recieve in the mail.

I filed for AP in october(RD:10/25/02).

I kept checking the online status and it always said that it was being processed and it takes about 60 -140 days.

Meanwhile my travel date 12/25/02 was fast approaching. So I called INS (Nebraska) on 12/09/02 and found out that my case has been assigned. So at this point I told her that my travel date was 12/25 and I had spent close to $4000 in airtickets and I need this document for our travel plans. She said, though the file is assigned, she cannot say for sure when it will be completed because it is dependent on the clerks work load. She then offered to send a communcation to the concerned clerk saying that I had enquired along with our travel dates.

Just yesterday, I saw the status change to,
"On December 10, 2002, the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued."

You can try the same thing. GOOD LUCK

I checked the processing dates for CA. I saw that the current processing date is 10/22/2002 as of 12/1/02 .

If your RD is 10/01/02 you should have cleared long back.

You better speak ASAP.

Also, since yoiu are so close to your travel date you should go to your local INS(either Wednesdays or Thursdays)

take the following,

1) Receipt notice
2) Your passport
3) Your entire AP application copy
4) I485 receipt notice
5) EAD
6) 2 side angle immigration pics
7) If you have your 140 approval, take that too.

good luck

How to chech the processing delays?

Thank you for your answer.
How did you check for the processing dates?

Manage to call INS

Hi
I managed to get the INS on the phone today.
They discouraged me from coming to their office for directly asking travel document.
They did not know the status of my application.
They just said they will forward my query. This is really depressing.

Thomas, Call them back bud. Keep trying until you find someone who is not trying to get rid of you. You should find someone who is more listening and is willing to help.

Make sure you identify their voices when they answer and also dont tell them that you called before or spoke to someone before.

Goodluck bud.

Something changed at least.

Thank you for your support. javascript:smilie(':)')

I managed to have someone on the phone yesterday, and the officer told me that my I131 has been assigned to a specific officer.
The person on the phone told me she would put a note on the desk of this officer reminding him that my flight is for the 21st of January.
I hope it'll make a difference.

Another point is: maybe the paper will be issued in time before the 21st, but the mail will take some day.
Do you think that someone can mail it to me in my home country if it is issued before I take my plane but not delivered to my home in time?

I know they always say that you need to have it before leaving, but the important thing is the date of notice, not the date of post delivery...

Because my girlfriend would be able to send it to me.

Still waiting

That is cruel...

I've called the INS every day.
They would never give me an answer, and the INS case status online has not changed.

I don't know what to do...
The plane ticket is for saturday.

Do you think there is a chance I might obtain this travel authorization by going there?
Customer representative of the INS discouraged me for doing it when I had them on the phone
