Need to travel to Canada

Hello,

I recently became an US citizen. I gave my naturalization certificate to get my passport at the postoffice. They said it will take 10 weeks to get my passport. Its been 4 weeks now and I have to make a trip to Canada. Is there any way I can go to Canada without my US passport or my naturalization certificate.

Thanks for any suggestions.

they wont let you board the plane if you dont hold a vaild passport as of January of this year. if you travel by land, they will need to see a proof of citizenship which you dont have at this point. i would postpone my trip if i were you. you never know what kind of reaction you get from CBP, even though you are a USC.

If you're flying, you have to have a passport. You can call the passport agency and explain your situation (that you have to make a trip soon). A lot of times, they'll upgrade your application to expedited at no cost if you have to fly within 14 days.

Hello all,
I just received my US passport and i have a Canadian residency. Most of them time i was living in the US and sometimes in Canada.
I'll be driving to canada on my car with US licence plate.
1- At the crossing border, What should i should show? the US passport or Canadian card? Am I allow to drive a car with US plate and being a canadian resident? Or should i show only my canadian card?
Is there any problem doing so?

Thank you very much.

quick question, how did manage to get USC if you were living both in canada and USC.
i am almost in the same boat. how many days did you spend in the us within 5 years.

why don't you try getting the enhanced driver license from NY.... it is both a driver license and a passport card...
