Hello Friends ,

I got my GC in February of this year. Now in am moving to a new place(In the same city). Do I need to send my change of address to USCIS. If I do , can someone direct me to the info as to what form I need to fill, where to send it, how to send it ( by registered post or not) etc.

I do not belong to the special registration countries.

Thanks.

Yes you have to file AR-11 which I belive goes to a storage in London, KY. Search for AR-11 on the web and you will get it.

This is assuming that you got your Plastic Card. If you have not, ON TOP OF ABOVE, you will have to file another form so that the PC reaches you correctly.

thanks alren for the quick reply.

I'll look for that form. It probably is right here on this site. I already have my plastic card.

Send AR-11 by cerified mail. You get a receipt and keep
it for the rest of your life as proof you obey this AR11 law.

Failure to file Ar-11 is depotable defense
and there is no statute of limitation for USCIS to punish
offenders.

hey i thought the only difference between Passport and GC is u cant vote.

is this true that after getting GC- u have to keep USCIS updated on the address.

how about a citizen - is it the same

well its true !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/address.htm

says it all- ok so all the people who told me the GC and USC is same except for the vote) are wrong...

hmm so what else are the differences........ looks like you can never get rid of the big brother watching you - Freedom after GC - i really question that.

Under many condicitons, citizens have to update their address
with government too. Drivers have to tell DMV of their state
about their address change. Male citizens have to inform
SSS of their address too (this applies to GC holder who
registered SSS as well).

Your GC can be terminated. You could be deported while on GC.

But not on citizenship. In rare cases it can get cancelled ...
