You GC expired 10 years ago? Wow.
The only way I can see the USCIS denying your application to renew your green card is if they suspect you've abandoned your permanent residency in the US.
Have you been living in the US since you got your green card? Have you lived outside of the US for more than 1 year?
When your GC expires, it doesn't affect your permanent resident status. The card is only proof of the status. So, the fact it expired is mostly irrelevant. It's kinda like letting your passport expire, it doesn't affect your citizenship.
As long as you don't give the USCIS any reason to think you've abandoned your residency, you should be fine.
