Hi all,
I passed my interview couple months ago and now I am still waiting for my contional green card to send to me. Here is my situations: I have been looking for a job during the past 6months., but it is so hard to find a job which u like. Finally I have an job offer but it is in another state and they pay really good. I really want to work for that company. My questions here are:1. If I relocate, does this will affect me to apply my permanent green card because my husband and I will live in different state.2.It has been 2 months now, I have not received my contional GC yet. Normally, how long it takes to receive the GC? I am worried because we just moved to another city last week. I have changed my address via the United Post Office, but do I need to change my address from the Immigration web site. Please please give me some advises, I would strongly apprecite if any of you could give my some suggestions.

xyz2008,

First of all changing addresses with post office doesn't do much esp when it comes to govt related mails such as Green card and other official documents. The post office will not fwd your GC to the new address but instead it will be sent back to the sender (USCIS in this case).

I would still maintain my current residence till I get my physical green card and then move. In the meanwhile, just go ahead and accept that job offer from out of state. You can still secure your job & even if you don't save a penny by maintaining 2 residences, its still better than zero income. I would take up a job and stay in temp housing or a hotel for now. After you get your GC, you can relocate to an apt/house whatever works out for you.

First of all, thank you for your reply. The fact is that we had already moved out last week. And I did change my address via united states post office and I also changed my address from the immigration web site. What else that I can do in order to secure that I can receive my GC? What about if I don't receive after 90 days, any ways that I need to get a new one? thank you .

There is not much you could do at this point to be honest with you. By changing the address with USPS & USCIS you haven't done any justice to yourself.....sorry.

Now your best bet is to visit your local DO and bring this to their attention to make sure they send your GC to the new address.

Its going to look pretty bad that you moved away from your husband before you even got the conditional GC in your hands. You guys better get some strong proof of married life so you can petition for removal of conditions in 2yrs time.
