Need of some guidance.

Hello everybody I am new to this forum and in need of some guidance. First in for most i have been through hell and back with immigration and now looking to do everything the correct way. Originally I was awaiting my green card through my mother by her work employment, to make a long story short it was an on going procedure and because we weren't before the 2001 amnesty date or something they denied it. Now I had my drivers license and it became expired a week ago. I just got married yesterday ( Yay ) and I know I can apply through my wife. My question to you guys is, Will it be possible to renew my license with the receipt from the I-797 once I get it? and if not are there any ways to speed it up so I can get my work authorization? I want everything to go as smooth as possible, I have truly had just bad luck with immigration and it is very frustrating to have another case.

I think it will be best to state your timeline to get a better advice....remember we are not attorneys
When did you enter? What visa? Do you still have your POE docs ie I-94, passport? Is your wife a USC etc....

I entered in 1994 with a visitors visa from Israel. When we went to immigration for my mothers case she took the I-94 but we have copies, I do have my original passport and my wife is Us citizen.

Check your state's DMV web site to find out the documents they require. You might need the employment authorization card and/or your Social Security card.
