I am a physician doing research on J1 and also have waiver from Dept. of state. I have a residency offer from a hospital sponsoring H-1. But for H-1 I need to pass step 3 exam by May 2003. I have already given the exam, but I am not sure if I will be able to clear it.
Just as a backup I want to apply for NIW or any category green card so that I can take advantage of the concurrent EAD filing with I-140 and I-485 all together. I can use this EAD to join residency in June.
Even if my I-140 is rejected, I will have enough time to give step 3 again and shift to H-1 later.
My CV highlights: 2-3 publications and 26 abstracts, wrote a clinical book, MD degree, presentations, no awards or prizes, 4 years research experience.
Does this plan make any sense to anyone ? Is it possible to think or pursue in this direction? Will I be able to get EAD by June this year?
