Need I-134?

I am filing I-485 myself. Our International Student Office (ISO) told me I must file an I-134 Affidavit of Support for my wife who is applying with me. I told ISO that my wife and I both have a job, her salary is higher than mine. But ISO said it would be better if I signed a I-134 to sponsor my wife. ISO also said my wife and I can enclose both our employment letters with the I-134. Is it necessary?
I will appreciate any advice.

At least, my lawyer also asked me to file I-134 for my wife and have it notarized when when we filed our I-485. My wife also has a well-paid job. He didn\'t ask for the employment letter from my wife though.
