Need help!!! Wrong entry date on I94???

Applying I140, have a question from lawyer. I entered US as a F1 student on Aug 31 1997. My I94 was stamped as "Aug 2X 1997". Is this stamp wrong? How do I correct this if so? Thanks for help.
 
I too had a wrong date in I94. I went to INS office and waited in line for long hours for two days. Then I was asked to go to the Airport. Later I went to the INS office at Airport and explained to an INS officer. He promptly corrected it and he filled in the back of the I94 card about the correction (there is a provision in the back to write corrections) and put a stamp on it. You do the same. Best of luck.
