I filed AP in Feb 18 2005 but still it is not approved.
According to processing dates It should approve but still pending.
Can you guess why ?

I got canadian landing permit and I need to visit canada 1 time before august 1 2005. If I don't have approved AP then I will loose my Canadian greencard.

Any one suggest me what is the quickest way to get AP ?

Please help me........I am too much in tense........

Do you think If I got local office then they will issue AP for me right away ?

OR I need to create any other excuse.

Thanks

I was in same boat, last year

I wrote a letter to INS (vermont) with no response in time
I did go to local office, showed the urgency(family death certificate), but they took their own time, especially if you are a male in middle age?
yours should any time, actually it took longer than I thought.
no harm in going to local office.
u have to produce documents of urgency
good luck

They normally take four to five months to approve a AP ... so I think u will get it in mid july or end of july despite what the processing times say on the web site.... There is nothng u can do but jsut to wait

Applied on 01/22/05. Approved on 05/20/05

I had e-filed for AP on 01/22/05.
Went to local office to inquire about AP. They asked me to send expedite request to VSC.
Sent the expedite request form on 05/01/05.
Approved on 05/20/05.

We had a similar problem with our AP. Sometimes the guys at Vermont just forget about the application. Only after we got our fingerprints done, that someone in Vermont realize that our AP and EAD are pending. We got all of them approved then.

Nycindia!
If you apply for an expedite request, I believe the reason for your expedite request will not stick with VSC.

As far as I know, the most commonly accepted reasons for approving expedite requests are: death in family etc (proof needed) or some kind of business emergency (proof needed). I guess other reasons include excessive delay in accepting your Advance Parole above the normal processing times (VSC) of 5-6 months.

So, sorry to say, but I am not sure your expedite request reason will sound good enough for them to approve it. I am just throwing in some pointers at you for other options to go to Canada for your landing:
Did you consider "Automatic Revalidation", instead of using AP to go to Canada? I guess you can read more about "Automatic Revalidation" on the internet or on these forums.

Ofcourse, as some one else has noted, you may most likely get your AP before August because you applied in mid/early February but I know it's hard to wait till the last minute!

Good luck. I still think it's not a good idea to send expedite request because you need to get your canadian PR landing done!!!

BTW, I have made an expedite request to VSC on May 26th because of an emergency but it's not one of the most common reasons (e.g. family death, business loss etc) but still I had to try and explain them because it IS an emergency to me. I have not heard back anything on it so far but I still hope it will have some effect on my AP approval times. (BTW, my AP was filed Mar 3, 2005 and so far there are no LUD's etc.)

Best of luck to you,
Kiran

p.s. I am not an expert in Legal/Immigration matters. This is just a friendly advice/posting from someone hoping to be of some help or seeking help!

Expedite Request form

Thank You,

The form that you need to fill out is G-731. There are 4 versions of this form - one for each service center. Use the appropriate one. In the case of AP - send the second page. Fill out the second page, attach the I-131 receipt. The address is also available on the form itself.

Although on the form it says that it is for Permanent Resident Card inquiry, this is the same form that i got from the local USCIS office, when i had gone for my AP inquiry.

Good Luck.
