I applied for my GC in Oct. 2001 and my application was transferred to DOl on the 12th of Dec. Based on that I am eligible for the 7th year extension. My current visa is valid only until 23rd of March, My attorney is planning to file for my extension next week. Since the extensions are taking around six months at this time, based on the fact that my extesion is filed can I continue my stay beyond March 2003?

Any ine whi has info or experience in this matter Please respond. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ladyluck - do Premium Processing. You can check some of the threads under H-1 6 Years Expiring to see other people's input on this issue. Basically, your company pays the INS $1000 and you get a response (approval, denial, etc) in 15 days. My application was filed on Dec 23 and they approved the extension Jan-06. Haven't read about anyone being denied so far.

LadyLuck--- Iam also sailing on the same boat as yours. My H1B Expires March 1 2003 and my GC was applied on Feb 25th 2002. My Attorney says as long as the Extension is applied before March 1st Iam fine. There should not be any denials as the LC is still pending and U have already got your approval last time u applied for. So don't worry about this. I know it takes time to get the approval but we have to live with it.

Thanks,

Thanks for your responses

Liat and H1Buser2002, I really appreciate your responses. I will check with my comapany if they are willing to do premium processing.
