a friend of mine married a US citizen and got the green card. It has been almost 1.5 years since the Green Card was approved. It looks like my friend will be getting divorced after 2.5 years of marriage. Will the Green card be revoked. does the marriage need to last any specific duration. please provide input.

Your "friend" needs to get the condition removed with the help of his green card granting spouse. Anybody who gets a green card via marriage to an US citizen gets a conditional green card, for two years during which in the eyes of bcis the person needs to stay married. Since your "friend" has been married for 2 and a 1/2 after getting green card, all he/she might need to do is apply for this removal. Check with an attorney. Maybe your "friend" is safe and may not need to apply for the removal of condition.

Sorry--2.5 years after marriage and 1.5 years after green card mean the friend has to apply for this removal. Check out the BCIS website to see what this form is.

your friend will have to file the form I-751 petition to remove conditions.
