Does the petioner must appear in the interview at Direct Consular Filing in the home country or Adjustment of Status in the U.S. The case is under F2B (Unmarried son or daughter of LPR). Thanks.

It is my understanding that for Consular filing just the applicant appears on the interview. You can check www.travel.state.gov for consular processing or contact the Consulate in charge of your son/daughter case.

The Adjustment of status is given within the US, is not a consular process. The Consular process is the grant or denial of visas so then the immigrant can go to the US so then adjust his/her status. When the time (if you have an interview for AOS) comes for AOS then you should appear with your son/daughter.

Good luck,

Thanks Cherr1980

Cherr1980,
Thank you to reply my question. I believe the situation that you mentioned is for K-1 visa. My brother is under family based F2B category. He will receive his immigration visa and adjust his status at the port of entry by an immigration officer at the airport. It seems that few people had experience about DCF filling for family based cases. Any other input will be welcomed. My mother is in the U.S. and I need to book a ticket for her if she must attend the interview. Thanks

If you have received the interview letter from the consulate, it should mention whether petitioner should be there on no? If you haven't received letter, call that consular directly & check. But mostly petitioner is not required at the Interview, if consulare processing is there.
